Pilotage
In a difficult harbour, the ship keeps its captain and takes on a pilot.
The report tells you where the doors are shut. Most teams can open them from there. Some cannot, because the reason the door is shut is three layers down: an auth model that assumes a browser, a pricing page generated from a spreadsheet nobody owns, a docs site that renders client side because that decision was made in 2021 and nobody has had a reason to revisit it.
Pilotage is the practice that handles those. We work on your codebase, with your engineers, on a fixed scope agreed in advance. Typically six to ten weeks. The deliverable is a Door Gap that has closed, verified by the same scan you already ran, plus the internal document explaining what changed and why.
We take on a small number of engagements at a time, because the work is specific and it does not compress. There is no pricing page for this. The conversation starts with your report, and if the gap turns out to be something your team can close in an afternoon, we will say that instead.
When the question is smaller, one property, its competitors, and a plan, the Door Gap Audit is the fixed piece of work at a published price.
What we tend to find
- Verification designed to stop fraud that also stops every legitimate machine, usually added after a single incident years ago.
- Pricing that cannot be published because nobody in the company can currently compute it.
- Documentation that is excellent, and invisible to anything without a JavaScript engine.
- A partner integration that already does everything an agent needs, sitting behind a contract nobody thought to make self serve.
If your report showed a gap you do not know how to close, write to us and attach the link.
